Review policy and contact information

If you are an author or publisher and have a book you would like me to review on MyHomemadeLibrary, please send an email stating your intent to The review turnaround time varies and is dependent on the current status of my nightstand and what piques my interest at the moment. Please contact me to discuss.

Keep in mind this is a new venture for me, I work full-time and have 3 young children. However, my goal is to read more books (like I used to do!) so I will try my best to have quick turnaround times. Sometimes life gets in the way.

For now, I have many books on my shelf that can be reviewed. As a Librarian, I am an avid public library user and make use of express reads, ebooks and general loans. You never know what you might find in your local library!

I will be reviewing books in the following categories:

Adult Fiction and literature – bestsellers, nominated books, Canadian titles, mysteries,

Children’s books – mainly picture books or early reads to facilitate quicker timeline for review; I read books to my children daily

Cookbooks  – I enjoy a good cookbook “read”; one that tells a story and is not just a book of recipes and photos. Yes, those are fabulous to look at, but I also need a good story behind these recipes. Think “Oh She Glows” by Angela Liddon and Nigella Lawson cookbooks.

I will not be reviewing books in the following categories:

YA fiction – there are plenty of book bloggers who review mainly YA fiction (MileLongBookShelf; Emilie’s BookWorld)

Horror/fantasy/science fiction genres

Non-fiction titles (exception: cookbooks)

To introduce myself, I’m a novice author (as you’re a novice reviewer) who’s written my first book to be released on Amazon, hopefully in May. I’d like to invite you to follow my blog as a quid pro quo so that you can keep up with my ramblings. The book is called, Baby Boomer Reflections: Eighteen Special Years Between 1946 and 1964. It’s blog is at

Hi Fred, I’ll have a look at my page to see if I missed adding the “follow” button. Thanks for looking and I’ll be sure to look at your blog, too. Congratulations on the book.
